If you can breathe, you can do yoga!
Yoga is for everyone!
Practicing yoga helps to reduce pain, to sleep better, to increase flexibility and blood circulation. It strengthens your body, and improves to focus and to calm your mind.
My name is Ruth Degen, I am the owner and yoga instructor at Turtle Rock Yoga.
I have been practicing yoga since 1998. My passion for yoga grew stronger with the support of my teacher Juris Zinbergs, who inspired and challenged me.
After working with Juris for a couple of years, he sent me to his teacher Gary Kraftsow at the American Viniyoga Institute (AVI).
In 2006 and 2007 I took my yoga teacher training with Gary and was certified as a 500 hour Viniyoga Teacher.
In 2006 I studied with Saul David Raye to become a Thai Yoga Massage Practitioner.
In 2008 I got in contact with Josef Heller and became a Hellerwork® Structural Integration Practitioner.
In 2010 I started my Yoga Therapist Training with Gary Kraftsow.
In 2011 I took the CranioSacral Therapy 1 with the Upledger Institute. CranioSacral Therapy is a gentle, light touch therapy to release tensions and restrictions in the nervous system.
In my work with clients and their specific needs, I combine the knowledge of Yoga, Yoga Therapy, Structural Integration, CranioSacral Therapy and Thai Yoga for a customized treatment.
Yoga Therapy can be supported by deep tissue massage manipulation of the connective tissue and releasing tension in the dura through craniosacral Therapy.
In a Structural Integration session, certain yoga asana (yoga postures) will reeducate the muscle memory into more functional movement patterns.
CranioSacral Therapy relaxes the body by working with the nervous system.
